About the work

The cabbage drawing came from a sketchbook that was assigned the loose directive of being a ‘Handbook for dealing with toxic personalities using vexing abstractions.’ This drawing came about 2/3 of the way through the book, at a sweet spot where the original intention of the project was fading in the rearview and surprises were starting to bloom. ‘Hold this cabbage, have a vision’ is an intrusive thought, and unwelcome advice, but in a more desperate moment—not a bad idea?
